Buffer AI assistant
- ✓ Website checked Sep 25, 2026
Brainstorm, rewrite and repurpose social posts inside Buffer, with separate limits for publishing and team approvals.
Tool Information
Buffer AI Assistant supports the drafting stage of social media work. It can suggest ideas, shorten or expand copy, adjust tone and repurpose an existing message for another channel. The assistant is optional: the product FAQ says posts are not automatically changed unless a user opens the assistant in the composer or Create space. That makes it useful for turning an approved announcement into several channel-specific drafts while keeping a person responsible for the final wording. It should not be treated as an independently verified source of current events or trending claims. Supply the underlying facts, then check dates, links, quotations and the intended audience before scheduling anything. A fluent rewrite can still omit a qualification or change the meaning of a claim. The AI Assistant is included in the current Free, Essentials and Team plans. Free permits three connected channels and ten scheduled posts per channel at a time; that publishing queue is different from the assistant's stated unlimited drafting credits. Other AI features, such as suggested replies in the community inbox, have separate plan limits. Paid pricing is per connected channel rather than one price for an entire brand portfolio. Essentials has one user, while Team adds multiple contributors and approval workflows. The live monthly selector and yearly selector display different charges, so compare the same channel count and billing period. Privacy also affects a drafting decision: Buffer says text entered into this assistant is shared with OpenAI. This review reached the signup form but did not create an account, connect social profiles, generate a post or publish content. Output quality and engagement gains remain untested.
