Tool Information

categorAIze organises texts, URLs, images and documents into user-defined categories or categories proposed by a language model. Its public description supports hierarchical labels, browser access and a REST API. Plugins are described as something to request from support, rather than a verified list of installed integrations. The service's terms identify SIA OffBeat IT as its operator; the About page names founder Janis Viksne.

The useful distinction is between processing cost and retained storage. The site describes pay-as-you-go AI credit, starting with a $5 credit, and lets users set a maximum cost per categorisation event. That cap controls how much of an item's content can be used. A long document may therefore need closer inspection than a short label: a budget limit is not evidence that all its information was considered.

Free storage is advertised for up to twenty-four hours and requires export. Paid storage cards display $9.95 per month for 750 items and 1 GB, $49.95 for five thousand items and 10 GB, or $149.95 for twenty thousand items and 40 GB. These storage prices do not replace the separate AI processing charges. The public beta-access button opens a registration form with username, email, password, terms acceptance and reCAPTCHA. Account admission and actual categorization were not tested. No account, dataset, API call or payment was created.

The terms say service data is sent to third-party model APIs and stored through AWS in the United States. A custom deployment offer should not be read as a promise that the ordinary hosted service keeps all data locally. Teams comparing it for document or image classification should test representative labels, hierarchy changes and export needs using data they are authorised to provide. Model-produced categories remain suggestions to review, particularly for overlapping topics or records whose important information exceeds the selected processing budget.
