Mentalyc

Mentalyc is a documentation tool for psychotherapists, counselors and other behavioral health clinicians. According to its website, a clinician can record an in-person or telehealth session, upload previously recorded audio, dictate a recap or type a summary, and Mentalyc then drafts a clinical note in formats such as SOAP, DAP or intake. The same session history feeds AI treatment plans, progress tracking across sessions, an alliance score called Alliance Genie and suggested worksheets. The vendor says it works alongside any electronic health record or none.

The service targets solo clinicians and group practices that spend substantial time on paperwork. Drafted notes and plans still require clinical review; the terms make users responsible for having the consents needed to record clients, and nothing here was tested with real or sample sessions.

Pricing for solo practitioners on annual billing is listed at USD 14.99 per month for Mini with 40 notes, USD 29.99 for Basic with 100 notes, USD 59.99 for Pro with 160 notes and USD 99.99 for Super with 330 notes and group therapy notes. Monthly billing and group-practice seat pricing are also offered. A 14-day free trial needs no credit card. The terms state that, after the trial, subscription purchases are final and non-refundable.

Mentalyc describes its service as HIPAA, PHIPA and SOC 2 Type II compliant, offers a business associate agreement and lists deletion of audio after transcription and anonymized transcripts. Its privacy policy says recordings, transcripts and notes are encrypted and not shared with third-party analytics platforms, while de-identified aggregated data may be used to improve the service. These are provider statements that were not independently audited.
