RewriteBar

RewriteBar is an AI writing assistant for macOS. Users select text in any application, press a keyboard shortcut and choose an action such as fixing grammar and spelling, changing tone, improving clarity, rewriting or translating into hundreds of languages. Results can be compared side by side with the original, several actions can be chained in one flow, and users can create custom actions with variables or pick from a prompt library. RewriteBar works with PopClip and can use third-party AI providers through the user's own API keys, local models, or the company's hosted RewriteBar Gateway.

RewriteBar suits Mac users who write in many apps, including non-native English speakers, developers and founders. AI rewrites should be reviewed before sending, and text sent to cloud providers is subject to their policies. Nothing was tested for this listing.

The app can be downloaded for a free trial on one device. Standard is a one-time $29 license for one device with unlimited updates, and Pro is a one-time $59 license for three devices that includes one year of the Gateway with 3 million credits a month. Extra devices cost $19 each, and the Gateway alone is $40 a year. The trial's credit allowance is stated inconsistently on the pricing page.
